Privacy & Cookies
What IPMonkey collects, why, and your choices.
What we collect
To show you your IP details we necessarily process your IP address and browser user agent. For site statistics and abuse prevention we log each page view and API call: the IP address, the page or endpoint, the user agent, and the approximate country and network looked up from the IP address. These logs are kept on our own server for 365 days, then deleted. They are not sold or shared.
IP addresses you look up are not stored beyond the request.
Cookies and local storage
- Theme preference — your dark/light choice is saved in your browser's local storage. This is strictly necessary for the feature you asked for and is never sent to us.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — the IP lookup form uses Turnstile to check that requests come from a person, not a bot. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.
- Google Analytics — measures how the site is used (pages visited, rough location, device type) so we can improve it. It sets cookies. Visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland are asked first, and nothing is measured until they agree. Elsewhere it runs by default. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Advertising — the site is funded by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, and, with your consent, to personalise them. Visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland are asked for consent before any of this happens. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can change your advertising choices at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
